Archana Puran Singh says she is not a permanent replacement on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’

Though Actress Archana Puran Singh shot two episodes of The Kapil Sharma Show, she denied as a “permanent” replacement for cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, say reports. Sidhu has recently been sacked from the comedy show after a controversial comment in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.

On Sunday, Sony Entertainment Television welcomed Archana Puran Singh on The Kapil Sharma Show and took the concern to a social media post. The Channel welcomed the actress amidst a buzz that she has replaced Sidhu. And the post landed on social media a day after the news that Navjot Singh Sidhu won’t be a part of the show anymore.  But there has been no clarity whether Archana Puran Singh is shooting for the show as a replacement of the former.

When one of the leading news channels contacted Archana to get clarity, she said over the phone: “No, I haven’t replaced him. I have not received any official information from Sony Entertainment Television or anyone to be a permanent part of the show. I shot two episodes for ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ before the Pulwama attack. He (Navjot Singh Sidhu) was busy somewhere due to which the channel approached me for shooting two episodes, and I did it.”

Archana during the interaction with the reporters also said that she is not considering the situation as an opportunity and it would be wrong to think so.

“The context of the whole issue is so serious that for me to consider it as an opportunity would be wrong. I can only consider this request to join the show only once it is made to me. I can’t pre-empt the request.”

Sony Entertainment Television sacked Sidhu from The Kapil Sharma Show after he, in one of the statements said that we could not blame nations for the cowardly acts of terrorists as an individual has performed the activity. Sidhu’s comments on the concern drew a lot of criticism over Twitter.
